Renters may purchase protection from Spinlister that covers ride damage and/or theft during the rental period. The option to purchase protection, if available, is shown during the checkout process. Note: Price and availability vary based on the Lister.

Renters that purchase protection will not be responsible for costs associated with repair or replacement of the ride. Spinlister will work with the Lister directly to cover applicable costs.

If you decline to purchase protection, you will be responsible for any ride damage and/or theft during your rental. Spinlister reserves the right to charge your credit card on-file in accordance with our Rental Agreement.

What is covered

Reporting damage or theft

All claims must be submitted within 24 hours of the end of the rental period by completing this form. If you rented from a shop, you can inform a shop employee directly.

When you file a damage or theft claim, Spinlister determines, in its sole discretion, whether your claim qualifies for coverage. Spinlister’s original determination is considered final, but you may be able to file an appeal of the decision with Spinlister if you have new or compelling information not available at the time of the original determination or you believe there was an error in the decision-making process.

It is the renter's responsibility to return the bike in the same condition that they found it. Before a rental takes place, we require the renter to accept our Rental Agreement and its terms and conditions. Remember, our terms and conditions state that the Renter is liable for any damages, loss, or theft.

Flat tires

Flat tires can happen to anyone, and we know they are a huge pain in the you-know-what (sometimes literally). Unfortunately, if a flat occurs during the rental, it is the Renter's responsibility to pay for the repair cost. We will treat it as a claim so pictures will need to be submitted 24 hours after it happens. If damage protection is purchased, Spinlister will reimburse the costs.

Renter Protection Program
Spinlister offers a Rental Protection Program to protect the Renter against costs of damage and theft. This is available for purchase during checkout when booking a ride.

The Spinlister Renter Protection Program does NOT cover bicycles locked outside overnight or that were secured with cable locks, or otherwise improperly locked.

Spinlister will not provide coverage under our Protection Program for damage that occurs during transportation as opposed to riding the bike. Examples include but are not limited to the bike being damaged while attached to a car rack, while being shipped or while being transported in a truck or van. In this event, the Renter will be responsible for any damages. Furthermore, Spinlister will not provide coverage for damage caused by disassembly, modification, or installation of accessories or bags.

Always do a thorough visual and safety check of the ride when picking it up from the Lister. If you receive a ride that doesn't work as promised, be sure to notify both the Lister and Spinlister of the issue right away. If you submit a valid issue and return the ride within the first hour of your rental, your credit card will be completely refunded.
